Thanks to http tracesofthesoul wordpress com 2013 07… It’s a Wrapup Wednesday Finally…….

    Image

I started to do this post a couple weeks ago. things. especially computer glitches got in the way.

    Thanks to http://tracesofthesoul.wordpress.com/2013/07/16/1187/

for nominating me for 3 awards. I was enthusiastic and enthralled with this.

Please go check out her lovely blog. She writes from the heart on deep insightful subjects. Her blog is stress relief she said and I am sure she would love to have you visit her.

    1. The Best Moment Award from MomentMatters.com;
Awarding the people who live in the moment,
The noble who write and capture the best in life,
The bold who reminded us what really mattered –
Savoring the experience of quality time.
    2. The Versatile Blogger Award is awarded based on quality of writing, the uniqueness of the subjects covered, the level of love displayed in the words and quality of the photographs and the level of love displayed in the taking of them
    3. The Sunshine Award is awarded to bloggers whose positivity & creativity inspires others.

Award Rules. (This one is fairly easy, especially with it being 3 in 1. My first award was doing twice as many numbers of things. 🙂

    1. Display the award picture.
    2. Thank the person who nominated you.
    3. Pass the nomination along to 15 blogs you have recently discovered.
    4. Contact the nominees.
    5. Share seven things about yourself.

7 things about little ole me:

    1. I tend to take on too many projects since I love to be doing all the time.
    2. I get so overwhelmed with this since I want to do it all. make every craft, go every place, follow every blog, befriend almost everyone, be in every group on fb, cut my own hair, you get the point.
    3. God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in the confusion this brings me.
    4. Speaking of Awards, I won the state home made bread award for Washington State Fair when I was like 12 or so. I still have my pin for that.
    5. What is peculiar funny with that though is….My bread machine broke about a year ago and have not made bread since. Yes it is confession time, I used to make the bread from scratch until my mom gave me the machine. Oh happy day, that was so much saving on time for me and now with the machine ready for being used as a flower planter or pot, I cannot seem to get enthused to do it the old way. Funny or sad? Maybe buy a new machine?
    6. It may be good, I do not make the homemade bread since I gained 80 lbs because of baking in my early 30’s. I baked every day. Not only bread, but fancy dessert and down home cakes, cookies, pies, you name it.
    7. I had to quit the baking after about 10 years for health factors with my kids and myself. I lost almost all the weight by this, exercising and eating beans with any Carbs. Yes beans. Many people do not believe that beans turns the Carbs to protein.

Now Blogs to pass the torch onto:

    Monday Mood-Cookbooks-Collecting Dust and Tears

    Monday Mood-Cookbooks-Collecting Dust and Tears

Am posting on this subject for https://www.facebook.com/groups/amonthof/601529473224864/?ref=notif&notif_t=group_activity. This month it has been “books” all month. Today it is “cookbooks.” I do have a few. Sometimes I think of selling them. Sadly, since the internet took over, I never use actual books anymore. In fact-though I love to cook-I just am involved in so many other hobbies and “have to do’s”  already. (See yesterdays post) That is what I decided to give up at this time in my life.  My husband likes to cooks so since he has time , he does it.

Since I am a very sentimental person, It saddens me greatly. If only health was not sleep dependent and I did not get so tired around 10 at night?
I am still looking or a place to buy longer days. (See my “about me”)

I guess this was a couple days ago. It still rocks though. I keep thinking “Daily Post Prompt” is= to Weekly Post Prompt or “Weekly Writing Challenge. So laugh with me. I think it stems from hangover of “Weekly Photo Challenge” Thanks @Busy Mind thinking.

    Vase Lift

It is Tuesday and my thought are on Tutorials. I found a great post on how a creative individual took a large vase and remade it over to have that ancient look. I really liked how she did this and wanted to encourage her by sharing what she did here. You and I may not have the exact vase as she did, but maybe we could learn from this and do something kind of like this after studying her post.

    dandelions & dreams

This is an old vase my mom gave me in oh…1996. It really felt like it was aging and needed a lift! I never really liked it much anyway.

    Image

It wasn’t hard pulling the rope off. But it was looking pretty hairy!!!

So I sanded away all the nasty looking fuzz. And this is how it looked after. Some of the paper backing stuck. I was hoping it would work well to give it a ‘peeling away’ look. I used duck egg blue chalk paint.

I wanted it to look like a old vase where the paint had come off in places. I still think I may need to do something else maybe add some shine- but as of now here it is!

Just some banners beautiful from a few  free header or FB timeline sites I tried with this blog and they just did not work at the time. I might change the look of my blog sometime in the future and use one then. I really do like the way my blog looks now. I also may use them on FB, but I usually use my own photo on it.  You can see I really like abstract. I also love music and time pieces: Steam punk Stuff, as long as it isn’t too macabre, that is.

Tags: , , , wont embed my image

I have several new blog awards to do and it will not let me post the images on my post. I have tried every way. It down loads the image to media, but will not embed in the template? I went through the library to attach it and it says it is attached, but it is not there? I have been messing with it for 4 hours and have had it. I have not given up on it, but need to go elsewhere before I scream.

    Kolorsplash Covering a Book

    Kolorsplash Covering a Book

Oh wow, what else can be said about this great art project I found while searching the web for my -month of posts- daily post subject today. This is a group on fb which provides a theme every day. I cannot always fit them in, but try to at least get one for the month at least once a week. This month the theme was books. Today it is something to do with color. So I found this inspiring site: http://suzyssitcom.com/2012/08/creating-colorful-bookcovers-with-astrobrights-paper.html

As if I need another great craft site? But it really does look like a neat site. And I do think these are the best book covers ever. Check them out with directions on the how to. There is other great stuff on there if this is not your mood or need at the moment. I hope to try this this weekend.

Want to be apart of the group and post there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/amonthof/?bookmark_t=group

Thanks. I am hoping I can keep positive with this while making it. Tedious crafting is not my forte, but I want to make it as a gift.

Those are pretty cool and just in time for a new school year too,

And I have not got to them yet. I am kind of in a quandary with this. I wanted to make them for my daughter’s birthday in October, but do not know what books and sizes she will need for school. I will probably have to wait and then have to push it to get it done. Thanks for the comment.

My board on Beautiful Book Covers

http://pinterest.com/luvtapin/books-book-covers-beautiful/ I will admit a book cover can make or break me reading a book.

Sometimes I find you cannot judge a book by the cover though and a lot of the time you can read a book with a cover you do not like it, but it is a great story.

Still I love pretty covers and- though I would not want to tear up a book to get it- I would put some covers on my wall as art.

Pinterest is wonderful for this. I can pin lovely covers and keep them in this manner without ruining books. Also, as mentioned; some books do not live up to their covers, so this is also a way to have the cover without feeling the need to read the book when you know it is not your type of genre.

    bookA

    bookb

    bookc

If anyone would like to share more book covers to add to my board, please do. I need more. This gives you an idea what kind I like.

What a lovely idea! I love the art in book covers. I may have a book or two from Canadian authors and colleagues I know. How would I get that pic to you? Whispering Insights.

I would love that. I could probably visit and pin from your blog if you and the authors do not care. Or pin from good reads if the books are on there. Let me know. I will come visit anyway either way.

Hi Blue Ribbon Fair: First congrats on your nomination and your great book covers post. I wrote a post about the current trend of book covers featuring women’s backs in a recent edition of Books Now! – so feel free to have a look. Pinterest is a great opportunity for bloggers: unfortunately, I’m not that tech savvy and my boards always look dismal and I can never get the number of pins in that I want – I obviously need to practice!

      • blueribbonfair 10:03 pm on July 16, 2013 Permalink | Reply

I will have to check this post out. Funny on pinterest. this morning in frustration I deleted about 80 boards because I could not get the boards arranged the way I wanted with the new system. I kept my boards that have hands on diy stuff and because of my book cover post on here, kept that board. Ever since they changed that site, I have not liked how my boards look and cannot find what I am looking for. When you drop and drag them it goes onto the board and you have to go back and start over. It wears me out. So I got rid of a bunch of boards and am planning to start over anew adding them one by one how I want them. It also was so much easier to arrange the 30 or so DIY with just them left. You are not the only one that cannot get that thing to work. Thanks so much for commenting and visiting.
