    DIY Candy Jar

DIY Candy Jar. From another blog. Very pretty and well done.

Just my own side note: I do not want to deviate from any beauty of another person’s posting and I take no credit for what is repressed here. I actually tried to do my own blog today, but I have moved and it may be a month until I get my own computer back. The library just would not post for some reason. So have some patience; I will do what I am able in the hour alloted for now. Just the thorns of life hindering until I overcome the trials of life once again. Thanks so much. I appreciate all my followers.

Tutorial for Tuesday-Coasters using up scrap paper and tiles.

    Tutorial 003

    Finished.

    Tutorial 002Tutorial 001

Sorry for my photos being slightly dark. I was tired and took them at my desk away from the window where I do my crafting at.  How I made them.  And this is the 2nd time around. I used these same tiles and wore them out once before!

So last year about this time I went to the habitat restore-great cheap get craft stuff place-and bought 2 plain white tiles for $1 after seeing this idea via Pinterest. I did the project, but they started appearing dirty and faded from drink spills and washing their tops was no longer working.

So I scraped them clean, washed & dried the tiles until they were as newly purchased.

I got out old saved cards, a few paint chips I had leftover and other scraps. ( I am sorry I did not get a photo of this part; I thought this would make a great post after I already was almost done.)

I picked out pieces I liked and cut them to fit. I then slathered my home made mod podge glue type stuff on the tiles, Set the paper parts in place and used the glue stuff with the paint brush over the top of the paper. Set to dry overnight.

I did the podge glue for 3 days and let dry well. The viola, sprayed with clear shiny sealant and it is good to go.

Oh I missed a step since this was one I did not do the 2nd time around. Using glue that works for anything (E 6000,love that stuff) and withstands wet conditions, I cut felt pieces in black, I found in my upcycle tub and put them to use on  the bottom as cushions to keep from marring my nice wood antique desk top. These look pretty ugly, but they are unsee beneath the pretty art on top.

    Shop Hop-Sunday Talk Shop

I have been slowly getting rid of some of my “too much stuff” or otherwise known as  “clutter.”  i have probably posted on my love of thrift stores and i know I have written about DIY  projects.  I still will shop at thrift stores and just finished making some paper beads and egg-shell beads for necklaces. Because both of these are big hobbies of mine,  And since my hobbies can overtake all the space in my humble dwelling, I have decided to sell some items I have an overabundance of .  I looked around on the internet and decided to give it a shot here:    http://www.webstore.com/index.php. I chose this auction marketplace since there is no fee to list and no fee upon a sale.  I set up a store front there and have listed about 40 things from all types of categories.  So from now on it is the one thing brought into the home and one thing put for sale to keep things out of their floor boxes it sits in to trip around.

As far as the DIY and big art and craft drive I have unless it is outside where I have a huge amount of room; (I am working right now into making the mailbox resemble a school box before school starts this year.) I have run out of spots to display all my great ideas I get from books, blogs and Pinterest. I have even ran out of places to give extra away as gifts also, so I also signed up for Etsy, which I love anyway. This will give me an excuse to keep on my creative side. I am busy getting the shop on there ,up and running.  I am starting out with whittling away at extra craft supplies. I have had some craft stuff for at least a decade I thought to make and think someone else would surely put it to use. I also have craft books. that I have doubled up. I am putting those and sewing patterns on there. I never sew since I gave my machine away a long time back.

I have not opened my Etsy shop yet. I have just been listing things and working on other factors of it. I have done 4 treasuries though. I am finding that fits my creativity mindset without the mess.  Here is a link to my school bus treasury if you want to drop by:  http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MzUxMzUyNzl8MjcyNDgxOTYwNA/back-in-the-yellow-bus?index=1&atr_uid=

Here is my store front on the auction site:   http://www.webstore.com/158342,user_id,158342,ac,shop  If you have anything to sell or get rid of it is way easy to do it on there.

I am not going to spam you all, but I will give an update on the Etsy Shop and may do a Saturday or Sunday Shop Hop Update about my journey into the foray of making a small bit of mad money.

This is the Etsy shop banner I created for my little boutique on the site.

I guess this was a couple days ago. It still rocks though. I keep thinking “Daily Post Prompt” is= to Weekly Post Prompt or “Weekly Writing Challenge. So laugh with me. I think it stems from hangover of “Weekly Photo Challenge” Thanks @Busy Mind thinking.

    Sun prints revisited.

This is my nomination for the best craft of summer. Great idea for family on hot days or for vacation bible school, any kind of kids’ camp. There is a link to the “how to” on the post.

Hope you will check out this reblogged tutorial posted on a Tuesday, especially if you like crafting and art fun with children. This blog has a great amount of fun stuff.

    Pinstrosity and Fire Pots.

Have you ever heard of Pinstrosity? Well if you have not it is a great site for the rest of us that do not, a lot of the time, get our Pinterest DIY ideas to work or look at all like the photos or the promises made. It helps the self esteem to know you are not alone.

Any way I made a little fire pot for the 4th and I cannot complain too much since unlike many flops on the site, I improvised with my materials. Like many on the site, it was not a total flop though, just not as nice as expected or not as perfect.

The fire pot did light for me. It was not hard to light. It did not shoot up and cause any emergency room visits. It also did not stay lit long enough to do a smore like they are supposedly set up to do. I really did not make it for that anyway. It was just a simple fun thing to do for the day.

I am sorry, my photos did not turn out to show it. This is what happens when a kid takes them, it happens too quickly to get the photo and you have a Cheapo camera that does not do well after dark.

    http://pinstrosity.blogspot.com/

https://www.facebook.com/Pinstrosity Site links if you want to visit them. you will feel better about the Pinterest fails, knowing you are not alone.

Fireworks with a colorsplash Heading into Holiday

    013005

    012018019

I had thought I would not get to my red, white and blue up this year for the 4th. I had been sick for about 6 weeks with Pertussis. I was behind on a lot that I had to do. I thought doing the redecorating was not a top priority.

Each year I redecorate with my different holiday collections and according to season for July-August, September-October, November, December, January-February, March, April, and May-June.

I usually just dust around my nick nacks on the edges until I pull everything down. So Saturday the looks of the dust after 3 months made me cringe.

So I went ahead and did it. I Pulled them, dusted the display place. I put some pieces in their proper boxes and I kept out many that go with my Summer Deco theme. This time around I kept out blue , red and white objects that fit for the 4th. I then brought out my specific holiday stuff which consists of about 14 items specifically made for the day. It takes me about 4 hours, but decorating is in my blood. This is when everything finally gets dusted and suffice it to say the 3 month spread from May-June is pretty long and it gets real dusty. Not to mention the same ole, same ole pretty stuff has become stale.

Maybe it was vanity, but We have company coming this Friday and I just could not stand the faded look of my Spring setting and the dust could be embarrassing.

I do not have the best digital camera and my photos are not professional, but here are several photos of a few hot spots on the theme.

Oh and I might add that I usually craft 2 or 3 new things to add out there. One day I will have to part with a few things when the collection gets to large. So some things in these photos were made or recycled this year.

Fun Foto Challenge for Cee: Lines

Fun Foto Challenge for Cee: Lines

Cute little coasters I made awhile back using paint sample rectangles and scrapbook page scraps. Tiles bought at habitat for humanity restores for .50 each and had the paper. Modpodged beneath and over top of washed clean tiles. Then sprayed sealer over them. Love them on my office desk.

Sorry I was a few days in approving your comment. I do appreciate it. I am sure your blog helps you with the stress of being a teacher. A teacher is an amazing occupation which I am stunned by those that endure it.
