    So Long Summer

I am feeling Fall. I know we are not even in August yet, but my teenager goes back to school in mid-August and all she can talk about is she cannot wait to wear sweats again. The fair has past and I did not get to the carnival this year was a bummer. My son that usually took me has moved about 6 hours away to be with his fiancee. He actually met her online and it seems to be working out great. It is way cooler also today; My air has even kept up. Maybe it and the cloudiness just are making me feel the next season?

Eating cold treats have been big for me this year. Also lite fare.

So I thought I would share summer treats and food ideas to try before we say, “So long to summer.”

Food looks absolutely delish! Rest well. Summer can be hot and distressing. Fall may be a better season. But your feeling the Mom experiences. ❤❤❤❤

Summer used to be my favorite season but as I got older Fall became my favorite.

Summer has become too hot in many places, seemingly as a result of the changing weather patterns. Fall and Spring can be a bit more comforting than the harshness of Summer and Winter. Stay cool! Enjoy your day!

I would say so. I remember too Summer being my favorite season. This has been the hottest Summer I have ever felt in my life. What is even scarier, the temperatures over the past few years have been increasing.

It’s funny, but people at work were saying “Fall was in the air” a few days ago too!

Summer went by way too fast this year! I too feel Fall in the air. I have no idea what to expect this year. Love these pictures of Summer. How I wish Summer was still really here.

    “Rare” Weekend

I “rarely” have time or money for vacations. But around July 4th this year, we took a weekend trip to Excelsior Springs in our state which is about 6 hours away up North. About 30 Minutes from Kansas City. My daughter is going to school there. So for   Word Press Weekly Photo Challenge, here is share of a cute little restaurant we ate at more than once since we were really impressed the 1st time:

    Sanctuary Kitchen Special

I hope your home has one spot that is a sanctuary for the soul. At times mine has been the kitchen’ I am sure many would call that their sanctuary spot when it comes to having fellowship with family, that quiet moment with a book and tea or coffee in that special breakfast nook or there are those  that find whipping up food, baking, and recipe making as the ultimate elixir. Take the cozy mystery caterer Goldy Bear Schulz for an example here:   book goldy bear 269746

Once and awhile when I have the time, I like to read up on trends. On food, I found this PDF guide:What’s Hot Foods trends.

2 items sounded really delicious at the time: Ricotta Pancakes and Regional gravy.

All Recipes Pancakes (Ricotta Pancakes) I had no problem finding quite a few recipes for this one, but “Regional gravy” was not anything the search engine could understand well even though I put in the top cities in Missouri in the topic to search with.

So I have made a couple of gravy offerings I found to fit into a regional niche for my own kitchen: 1. Gravy Recipe 2. Gravy Recipe.

So whether you cook in the kitchen, eat the finished products or do both. Find the way to use you kitchen for a sanctuary this week.   Enjoy!

This is for the: Word Press Daily Prompt.

    For the Love of Fudge

So today my daughter and I did 4 fudge recipes. I keep seeing more fudge ideas on Pinterest. Wish to do them all, but for a lot of reasons: time, money, calories, not the most healthy of diets, sadly I will give up my fudge dreams…

Going beyond the lowly basic chocolate shown here. A few of the “so many options and so little time”. morsels I would greatly desire to make..

    Peppermint Oreo fudge

    Popcorn Vanilla Bean Fudge

    Mocha Coconut Fudge

And you never thought you would see the day:

    Pistachio fudge

Last but not least: Watermelon Fudge. Hey, 4th of July will work for this one?

    Thanksgiving Food

Now I must confess something. I love to cook, but since I have no freedom in my small kitchen, I have decided for the first time we are going out for once. I did have someone invite us over, but because of my brittle asthma, I cannot do it. so probably going out, not my first choice, but I also do not want the dishes and clean up everyone dumps on me.

I do love to cook, but it is a big struggle to do it unless I have a clean kitchen all to myself. Maybe you are not like that, but I am extremely introverted and do not want to clean up to cook and have them come in and make another mess while I am doing it so I am not going to go there.

So today it is just a mere dream of times past when I had such liberty. I will content myself with the dream of food I would love to do if I had better circumstances.
