    Those Christmas Leftovers

I bet you were thinking, if anyone still has leftovers from Christmas, they are slightly Nutty. We are not talking though about food here today.

You see the last few weeks of the Holiday season went by in such a rush, I was not able to post the actual handmade stuff I did this year. The items were included in my Christmas Decor in my home from a previous post. but I wanted to share them on their own. I did not even get any photos taken that were any good until this past week. I had taken some before Christmas, but somehow they were deleted? ( I still do not do well with my phone camera.) So at least before we leave January, here are the few items I made and had a joy making:

Great ideas…all of them. I especially like the snowman and I think I must try the Christmas trees next year. A little late, but Happy 2018.

Yes, I ran out of time. Hopefully next year, but Pinterest gives you so many ideas.

I’m still eating leftover Halloween candy. Fortunately, I always buy chocolate candies so I don’t mind eating them.

Since I no longer have crafty kids around, I am not ashamed to do this myself. I love “kid’s looking” art and have so much I kept of mine from years back.

The site this came from is not linked to the post, but what a simple and beautiful way to recycle tin cans. I also think the craft “How To’s” are easy enough to follow by using the photos.

Bright pumpkins on the porch. Great to lighten up shorter and darker days. This site sells the oil pastels to use actually. I did not check the pricing and maybe other brands would work, but these appear to be a very good make on them.

Thoughts on a Thursday- Firepot for the 4th.

    fire pot 001

    fire pot 002

I am not sure how this will work when I light it tonight since I used several directions and what I had. Will it light? I just hope the lighter fluid keeps from exploding. I had no charcoal which most of these called for. See what happens. Stand Back. I know nothing about using lighter fluid.

Fireworks with a colorsplash Heading into Holiday

I had thought I would not get to my red, white and blue up this year for the 4th. I had been sick for about 6 weeks with Pertussis. I was behind on a lot that I had to do. I thought doing the redecorating was not a top priority.

Each year I redecorate with my different holiday collections and according to season for July-August, September-October, November, December, January-February, March, April, and May-June.

I usually just dust around my nick nacks on the edges until I pull everything down. So Saturday the looks of the dust after 3 months made me cringe.

So I went ahead and did it. I Pulled them, dusted the display place. I put some pieces in their proper boxes and I kept out many that go with my Summer Deco theme. This time around I kept out blue , red and white objects that fit for the 4th. I then brought out my specific holiday stuff which consists of about 14 items specifically made for the day. It takes me about 4 hours, but decorating is in my blood. This is when everything finally gets dusted and suffice it to say the 3 month spread from May-June is pretty long and it gets real dusty. Not to mention the same ole, same ole pretty stuff has become stale.

Maybe it was vanity, but We have company coming this Friday and I just could not stand the faded look of my Spring setting and the dust could be embarrassing.

I do not have the best digital camera and my photos are not professional, but here are several photos of a few hot spots on the theme.

Oh and I might add that I usually craft 2 or 3 new things to add out there. One day I will have to part with a few things when the collection gets to large. So some things in these photos were made or recycled this year.

End of the Holiday told from the Beginning through Story Land.

My internet service was foul today and I could not get on here to post. Every time I tried to get on WP I could not and now it is late. I really wanted to check out the daily prompt or write something, but knowing my service with the weather may give up at any moment here I am giving out a speedy read.

Here is a quote to sum up the day: I like to compare the holiday season with the way a child listens to a favorite story. The pleasure is in the familiar way the story begins, the anticipation of familiar turns it takes, the familiar moments of suspense, and the familiar climax and ending.

Mr Rogers. I am at a weary ending as stated.

    Advent Calendars

Okay, this morning advent calendars are driving me. I already have 2 home made an usually do 3 or 4 depending on how many “kids” are home.

So looking up on “Swagbucks” http://www.swagbucks.com/?cmd=home. Give me credit here if you sign up. I did find oodles of ideas.

Unfortunately these are mainly ones you need special things to do and really involved. They are beautiful so I will post the links. When I read my husband drilled, cut, etc. I know that one is out for me because I have no helper like this. It is up to me to do it myself.

Next post : Advent Calendars Decided Upon.  The calendars above would surely get you a blue ribbon at the fair.
