    Focusedia Friday starring Pinterest

Many people love Pinterest. In fact it is my favorite site except for Youtube.

I have a board I try to pin to everyday : It is called “Pin of the day.”

I pin items I find that really  catch my interest and feelings that day. Kind of like: “These are a few of my favorite things.”

    Pinterest does Pumpkins

As I mentioned over @http://ceenphotography.com/ earlier, pumpkins are my favorite thing that happen during the year.

Today I have been pinning pumpkins off and on onto Pinterest. It is amazing how the designing and doings with pumpkins have changed over the years. Here are some creative, cool and different ones I found today on there. (Non of these first photos are mine.)

    PINK! is the new Orange!!!

As you can see i am pumpkin happy. Now here are a couple of my own making and photos:

Little pumpkins my kids did a couple years back. They are so creative. Used whatever they wanted to make them their own. I was so sad when they rotted, though they lasted almost the whole year.

Glue and glitter on top of it. I also wish I had sprayed a sealer since I have lost a lot of glitter. Hey I am learning as I go here-,Aren't you or were you born perfect? with kids , who needs a tornado? I may update this with more glitter and glue and sealer.

Beautiful apple gourds. When I took the photo it had lost a lot of it’s glitter. It was supposed to harden and dry so I could keep it. maybe Missouri is too wet because it molded after about a year also.

    Yarn Pumpkins

I love my yarn pumpkins. I made a white one to go with these this year.

My first go at a “pop up” card. Of course I could not resist trying this when I saw it was for a pumpkin.

^Lots of help for the Fall gatherings for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Fun and Food.

I am working on having a little Halloween get together. I also am making a paper mache pumpkin. I really want to try my hand at another pop out pumpkin card since the one I did ,  I had to use paper that was not what worked as well as the direction had you use. I got better paper now. I also did some other things  I want to share here, so hopefully I can post more fun stuff soon. (Look for these coming posts.)

P.S. I also see some other blogs with some cute pumpkin ideas I want to skip over and visit. Thanks for reading and looking .

Creative ideas about pumpkins. I have never thought that they could be much beautiful like these photos 🙂

      • blueribbonfair 8:21 pm on October 18, 2014 Permalink | Reply

Thanks. I saw some more ideas yesterday like making rooms in a pumpkin with small doll house furniture. There are also ways to preserve them, ( I have not tried that myself.) to keep them from molding. I could have used that with mine that molded, but never knew this prior.

    Pinterest FaIL-Sort of

AT Easter time I mentioned in a post that my kids and I did eggshell geodes. I posted a picture from Martha Stewart with how they are supposed to turn out.

-I now know I am not Martha. Have you ever seen the blog called something like that? I may have seen more than 1 of them. It is too bad such names are already taken. Anyway, they still are pretty, but not at all like the picture from her site. The colors are cheery and my mind is spinning with upcycle ideas to use them for, but on this depressive Monday here are the results prior to doing something else with them.

They are pretty shells as you can see. This is all of them as a collection.

The orange one has the most crystals , but not at all like the photo from Martha's blog.

This is how Martha does it. she never has a failure. lol

I think there is a link on my former post in April on this under Holidays, if you want to see what we tried. Maybe you would have better luck

This reminds me of a time I saw Martha on a show, and someone in the audience was like “I’ve tried what you are demonstrating and it really doesn’t look like yours” Martha’s response to that comment could not have been more condescending it was one of those moments where you really felt for the woman in the audience who probably will never buy a Martha branded thing again.

That is crazy. I know people like that. They take it as criticism against them when the person was just stating a fact. That is ridiculous. Makes me never want to support her either again. I got the idea from pinterest. I pin and never know where it comes from until I go to do it sometime. I do not do much from her like I used to since I do not have time. Just if it is a pin on Pinterest that leads me there. Thanks for the comment.

This reminded me of an episode with melted wax crayons, not at all easy to do 🙂

We tried the melted was crayons on pumpkins a few years back and all it did was clock up the hot glue gun. Wishing you the best as you do your music stuff.

My board on Beautiful Book Covers

http://pinterest.com/luvtapin/books-book-covers-beautiful/ I will admit a book cover can make or break me reading a book.

Sometimes I find you cannot judge a book by the cover though and a lot of the time you can read a book with a cover you do not like it, but it is a great story.

Still I love pretty covers and- though I would not want to tear up a book to get it- I would put some covers on my wall as art.

Pinterest is wonderful for this. I can pin lovely covers and keep them in this manner without ruining books. Also, as mentioned; some books do not live up to their covers, so this is also a way to have the cover without feeling the need to read the book when you know it is not your type of genre.

    bookA

    bookb

    bookc

If anyone would like to share more book covers to add to my board, please do. I need more. This gives you an idea what kind I like.

What a lovely idea! I love the art in book covers. I may have a book or two from Canadian authors and colleagues I know. How would I get that pic to you? Whispering Insights.

I would love that. I could probably visit and pin from your blog if you and the authors do not care. Or pin from good reads if the books are on there. Let me know. I will come visit anyway either way.

Hi Blue Ribbon Fair: First congrats on your nomination and your great book covers post. I wrote a post about the current trend of book covers featuring women’s backs in a recent edition of Books Now! – so feel free to have a look. Pinterest is a great opportunity for bloggers: unfortunately, I’m not that tech savvy and my boards always look dismal and I can never get the number of pins in that I want – I obviously need to practice!

      • blueribbonfair 10:03 pm on July 16, 2013 Permalink | Reply

I will have to check this post out. Funny on pinterest. this morning in frustration I deleted about 80 boards because I could not get the boards arranged the way I wanted with the new system. I kept my boards that have hands on diy stuff and because of my book cover post on here, kept that board. Ever since they changed that site, I have not liked how my boards look and cannot find what I am looking for. When you drop and drag them it goes onto the board and you have to go back and start over. It wears me out. So I got rid of a bunch of boards and am planning to start over anew adding them one by one how I want them. It also was so much easier to arrange the 30 or so DIY with just them left. You are not the only one that cannot get that thing to work. Thanks so much for commenting and visiting.

    Pinstrosity and Fire Pots.

Have you ever heard of Pinstrosity? Well if you have not it is a great site for the rest of us that do not, a lot of the time, get our Pinterest DIY ideas to work or look at all like the photos or the promises made. It helps the self esteem to know you are not alone.

Any way I made a little fire pot for the 4th and I cannot complain too much since unlike many flops on the site, I improvised with my materials. Like many on the site, it was not a total flop though, just not as nice as expected or not as perfect.

The fire pot did light for me. It was not hard to light. It did not shoot up and cause any emergency room visits. It also did not stay lit long enough to do a smore like they are supposedly set up to do. I really did not make it for that anyway. It was just a simple fun thing to do for the day.

I am sorry, my photos did not turn out to show it. This is what happens when a kid takes them, it happens too quickly to get the photo and you have a Cheapo camera that does not do well after dark.

    http://pinstrosity.blogspot.com/

https://www.facebook.com/Pinstrosity Site links if you want to visit them. you will feel better about the Pinterest fails, knowing you are not alone.

I am now having to break in a new camera so I have not had any new photos for awhile. But here are some some photos  I saw lately from Pinterest I love: None of these photos are mine and I do not take any credit. They are breathtaking to me though.
