Since I no longer have crafty kids around, I am not ashamed to do this myself. I love “kid’s looking” art and have so much I kept of mine from years back.

The site this came from is not linked to the post, but what a simple and beautiful way to recycle tin cans. I also think the craft “How To’s” are easy enough to follow by using the photos.

Bright pumpkins on the porch. Great to lighten up shorter and darker days. This site sells the oil pastels to use actually. I did not check the pricing and maybe other brands would work, but these appear to be a very good make on them.

    Books in November

Here are the Books I am reading this month; I do not read as much as I used since I have so much to do……….

book visitors blog beautiful cover Catherine Burns 2017

My update on what I think of it: I’m on page 86 of 288 of The Visitors: This book is creepy because of the odd characters in it, rather slow to do anything.; But there is an undertone to the book and hopefully, it will hit what the jacket cover said more and at least at the 1/2 way mark.

Marion Zetland lives with her domineering older brother, John in a decaying Georgian townhouse on the edge of a northern seaside resort. A timid spinster in her fifties who still sleeps with teddy bears, Marion does her best to shut out the shocking secret that John keeps in the cellar.

Until, suddenly, John has a heart attack and Marion is forced to go down to the cellar herself and face the gruesome truth that her brother has kept hidden.

As questions are asked and secrets unravel, maybe John isn’t the only one with a dark side.

See What I Did book black raven blog beautiful cover

In this riveting debut novel, See What I Have Done, Sarah Schmidt recasts one of the most fascinating murder cases of all time into an intimate story of a volatile household and a family devoid of love.

On the morning of August 4, 1892, Lizzie Borden calls out to her maid: Someone’s killed, Father. The brutal ax-murder of Andrew and Abby Borden in their home in Fall River, Massachusetts, leaves little evidence and many unanswered questions. While neighbors struggle to understand why anyone would want to harm the respected Bordens, those close to the family have a different tale to tell—of a father with an explosive temper; a spiteful stepmother; and two spinster sisters, with a bond even stronger than blood, desperate for their independence.

As the police search for clues, Emma comforts an increasingly distraught Lizzie whose memories of that morning flash in scattered fragments. Had she been in the barn or the pear arbor to escape the stifling heat of the house? When did she last speak to her stepmother? Were they really gone and would everything be better now? Shifting among the perspectives of the unreliable Lizzie, her older sister Emma, the housemaid Bridget, and the enigmatic stranger Benjamin, the events of that fateful day are slowly revealed through a high-wire feat of storytelling.

Not a page turner, but good enough to keep me reading. I may add more book since I am close to finishing a couple of them.

book in the woods tana french blog

A gripping thriller and New York Times bestseller from the acclaimed author of Broken Harbor and The Secret Place

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a twelve-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddox—his partner and closest friend—find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery. Now, with only snippets of long-buried memories to guide him, Ryan has the chance to uncover both the mystery of the case before him and that of his own shadowy past.
Richly atmospheric and stunning in its complexity, In the Woods is utterly convincing and surprising to the end.

Look for French’s new mystery, The Trespasser, for more of the Dublin Murder Squad.

I am reading this one over again. Such a good story.

I only have a desktop. I used to have a kindle, but it was used so much it broke. I have not been able-though I want one-to get one at this time. And my phone? I just won a book on Goodreads and it was a kindle book They said I could put it on my phone, but gave up trying to figure it out when it kept saying we are having trouble getting this on your phone. I have to follow up on it contacting them soon. I cannot read on my desktop either because it hurts my eyes and Chronic pain if I sit too long. If I get the android going with the other book, I would do it. It sounds like a great book.

I know it. I used to read every book through even if I did not like the book. I now quit them and do not waste my time on them.
